About  Me

I am a Clinical Psychologist working in private practice in Kloof, Durban KZN, working with individuals, couples and groups for over 25 years.

Aside from private practice, my career journey has also included lecturing and supervising undergraduate and post graduate psychology students, training lay counsellors at NGO’s, writing articles of psychological interest for magazines, and working as a consultant for an international war tribunal.

My Philosophy

I passionately believe in the therapeutic relationship and process as powerful agents of change. The therapy setting allows for a supportive, non-judgemental and confidential space in which this can take place.

I also have a longstanding relationship with nature, the wilderness and its healing capacity and am inspired by the focus that this area is now receiving.

My Approach

The main aim of therapy is not just symptom relief and better coping skills, but also to understand how old patterns influence our current lives and using this insight to develop skills and practices to facilitate living more deeply and successfully in one’s present life.

I work with adults and adolescents in the modes of brief, medium term and long term therapy.  I prefer an integrated approach and am informed mainly by interpersonal, psychodynamic, systems, attachment and mindfulness- based therapies and approaches. I am also trained in and use hypnotherapy and specific trauma therapies.
